Efficiency, Security, and Zero-Touch: What’s New in the Cloud Device Manager (CDM)
At 14IP, we are committed to constant innovation, ensuring our tools evolve alongside the needs of our partners and customers. Our Cloud Device Manager (CDM) is at the heart of how you manage, provision, and maintain your communication hardware.
We’ve been hard at work implementing several highly requested features and backend improvements designed to streamline your workflow and overall user experience. Here is a look at the latest updates now live in the CDM Portal.
Bulk Management Power Tools
For those managing large-scale deployments, efficiency is found in the “Bulk” capabilities. We’ve added Bulk Extension Mapping functionality, complete with CSV import and validation.
- CSV Import: Upload hundreds of mappings at once.
- Validation: The system checks your data for errors before applying changes.
- Export for Updates: You can now download your existing mappings as a CSV file, make your edits in your favorite spreadsheet tool, and re-upload them to complete a full system refresh.
Streamlined UI: Drag-and-Drop Key Mapping & Keys Sorting Options
Managing button layouts just got a whole lot faster. We’ve introduced drag-and-drop support for line, horizontal, and expansion keys. Instead of manually re-assigning positions via dropdowns, you can now simply click and move keys to your preferred arrangement. It’s a small change that makes a difference in the speed and intuitiveness of deployments.
Additionally, key assignments in Expansion Modules (Sidecars) can now be automatically sorted by either Name (Label) or Number (Value) with a single click.
Zero Touch Provisioning for 14IP Gateways
Zero Touch Provisioning enables 14IP phones and gateways to configure themselves automatically upon power-on and connection to the internet. With updated firmware, the devices connect to our CDM Portal, authenticate, and download the appropriate provisioning configuration file without requiring manual setup.
Managing for Others: Subcustomer Login
For our agents and service providers, we have the new Subcustomer Login functionality. This allows authorized users to “impersonate” or log in as a subcustomer to manage devices directly on their behalf. It simplifies management and support.
Enhanced Security with IP Whitelisting
To give administrators finer control over portal access, we’ve added Tenant IP Address Whitelisting. You can now manage a list of approved IP addresses for each tenant, ensuring that device management and sensitive configuration changes are only performed from trusted networks.
Other Important Additions
- Force Check Config: A new button on the mapping page lets you manually trigger a configuration check for any device, ensuring it has the most up-to-date settings.
- Outbound Proxy Port Support: You can now define specific outbound proxy ports in both the Mapping Wizard and the Extension Mapping advanced view, providing greater flexibility for complex network traversal.
- Model-Specific Image Validation: To prevent errors during customization, the portal now includes format validation for background and screensaver uploads. Helpful text will now guide you on the exact dimensions and file types accepted by your specific device model.
- Phonebook Sorting: You can now sort your directory contacts by Last Name (the new default), First Name, or Number.
Experience the Updates
These updates are now live and ready for you to explore in the CDM Portal. Whether you are provisioning a single gateway or managing a fleet of thousands of devices, these tools are designed to make your day-to-day operations smoother and more secure.
